My name is Beth Myers, and I want tell you about my background in order to answer the question, “how does she know what she is talking about?” Ok, honestly that question may never be answered but here is a start. I began my career in the 3rd sector in 1990, as a budding young social worker, having earned my degree at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. After three years in the field, believing I needed to change systems in order to be really effective, I obtained a masters degree in social work, planning, administration and community practice from Arizona State University. While in Arizona, I worked with some seriously hard-core juvenile offenders, who are responsible for developing a passion in me about prevention.
I then moved to Texas, and for 12 years, I worked for one of the most significant and impactful youth development programs in the nation, Big Brothers Big Sisters. I was privileged to serve as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas. Having developed a strong board and staff, I helped lead the organization from a small agency to one of the largest Big Brothers Big Sisters’ affiliates in the nation.
After hitting the targets I aimed to hit, and believing strongly that someone should go out on a high note, I have entered the highly coveted realm (at least I highly covet it) of consulting. I am President of Sector Three Resources, a consulting firm that focuses on organizational development, leadership development and executive searches. I also have the pleasure of serving as the Executive Director of the Alamo Heights School Foundation. So there you have it. That’s my story and ………….. if you want the more official bio, well, I am adding that here as well.
